Mobilising knowledge in applied health, public health and social care research

PROJECT STATUS: Ongoing
/
START DATE AND DURATION: September 2024
Summary

We have received NIHR funding for part-time Knowledge Mobilisation Fellows in applied health, public health, and social care research for a 3-year capacity building initiative.

The goal is to maximise the impact of research through what is known as 'Knowledge Mobilisation': getting effective treatments and models of care from research into practice. The programme will support a cohort of four part-time Knowledge Mobilisation Fellows, based in the sector and/or trust/academic institutions.

Priority areas

The four priority areas responding to population and system needs are:

  1. Mental health and dementia
  2. Starting-living-ageing well
  3. Tackling healthcare inequalities through NHSE Core20Plus5 and health inequalities in defined community (inner city to coastal) and NHS settings
  4. Prevention in social care

Cross-cutting themes

  1. Linking evidence with commissioning and service re-design
  2. Continuing dialogue and collaboration, system wide (across geographies, organisations and settings), to maximise knowledge mobilisation across health and social care pathways in the topics addressed eg, integrating population health and adult social care
  3. Understanding why knowledge mobilisation activities has / has not worked in the North Thames region to promote its effective use, spread and scale (linked to innovation)
