EXPERTISE AND INTERESTS

Wiam joined ARC North Thames in September 2023 as part of the ARC Academy team. Wiam's role involves delivering different research methods courses, training early career researchers and developing research capacity of health and social care professionals in the North Thames region. She also supports the Mental Health Research for All (MH-ALL) programme.

Wiam has expertise in teaching different global/ public health modules to undergraduate and postgraduate students, in her role as a lecturer at the Centre for Global Public Health and Policy at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health, QMUL. She led different global public health modules such as communicable diseases, maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases and applied research methods. 

Wia has an MBBCh from the School of Medicine and practised general surgery for many years before enrolling in postgraduate studies on public health and preventive medicine. She completed her PhD in Clinical Epidemiology of kidney diseases at the University of Nottingham in 2013 and has continued to work in academia since that time.
