EXPERTISE AND INTERESTS

I am a PhD student at the Centre for Psychiatry and Mental Health at Queen Mary’s University of London. I completed the MSc Mental Health: Psychological Therapies programme at QMUL and now teach on the programme as a research methods and academic advisor. I have a BSc in Psychology from Loughborough University with a diploma in Professional Studies for a year-long placement at Kings College London. I have also been awarded an Associate Fellowship in Higher Education (AFHEA). I have previously worked on both an acute and secure rehabilitation ward with vulnerable adults with complex and challenging mental health needs.

My PhD project investigates how individuals, who have experienced trauma, identify with their given mental health diagnosis and how they understand the role of past trauma in their presenting difficulties. Additionally, my research aims to uncover whether there are any biases and preferences around the diagnostic labels, complex PTSD (CPTSD) and borderline personality disorder (BPD).
