Training opportunity: Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in research

The UCLH Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), is running a programme of regular workshops on patient and public involvement (PPI) in research. This is available to all UCLPartner organisations, including ARC North Thames researchers and staff. 

The award-winning sessions build up researchers’ skills in involving people in activities including setting research priorities and designing protocols.

Attendees get career points as workshops are included in UCL’s Doctoral Skills Development Programme. Workshops are supported by the Wellcome Trust. 

 

The workshops

The workshops cover the following topics:

  • Intro to PPI: what can PPI do for you?

  • How to fill in the PPI section of grant form

  • How to find patient partners, and keep them involved​

  • Facilitation: how to get the most out of your PPI activities
  • How to do PPI: focus groups and more

date/time

2 hour workshops, running at 10am - 12pm or 2pm - 4pm on various dates.

 

CostsWorkshops are free for staff at University College London (UCL), University College London Hospital (UCLH) and UCLPartners organisations.

The costs of attending the workshops for other staff are as :

  • For industry and for-profit organisations: £60 per workshop (£50 per workshop if two or more are booked together)

  •  For non-profit organisations: £30 per workshop (£25 per workshop  if two or more are booked together)
