NIHR ARC North Thames launches Social Care Learning Network

12 Mar 2024

Adult social care research stands the greatest chance of impact when social workers and local authority and community colleagues work with researchers as part of the process.

At present, there is limited infrastructure in London to broker knowledge between researchers and practitioners in a unified way, though there is a wealth of expertise across key academic partners in adult social care in London.

The Social Care Learning Network is a regional capacity-building initiative by NIHR ARC North Thames, and led by LSE's Care Policy and Evaluation Centre. It seeks to improve the capacity and capability of social care researchers and local authority staff in North Thames to conduct, be involved with, and contribute to social care research.

The programme will support social care local authority staff into internships in research institutions, and social care researchers into career development fellowships in partner local authority settings.
The goal is to help improve local social care understanding and research skills through mentorship, training, and opportunities to contribute to research.

The deadline for expressions of interest is now passed.
