Understanding the trajectory of frailty across the life course

PROJECT STATUS: Ongoing
/
START DATE AND DURATION: October 2022
Summary

We will construct a harmonised frailty index across the three oldest birth cohorts to measure of frailty and look at factors across people’s lives (e.g. socioeconomic position), which may influence frailty at any age.

Additionally, we will test a Hospital Frailty Risk Score (HFRS), created automatically from NHS electronic records to assess if this risk score predicts hospital outcomes.

We will engage with lay and professional stakeholders with an interest in frailty in younger ages to consider which changes in health or quality of life are meaningful to younger people with a range of long-term conditions.
